This morning was busy. We woke up at 6am to a care assistant waking Emma to get her weight. A lot of eye rolls later (from Emma's eyeballs), she was back in bed, after standing on the scale, and was quickly back to sleep.

About 45 minutes before we had to go, I decided to get up and get ready. Only, right as soon as I stood up, the nurse walked in and told me that they were on their way to get Emma. I can't remember if I even had time to brush my hair, but suddenly we were off. Didn't change clothes, had bunny slippers on (me, not Emma).
Emma didn't have a random Versed trip this time, which was disappointing. They actually didn't give her any Versed at all. They didn't give her any of a certain type of drug (that I can't remember) due to the effects it can have on the bowels. They did put her to sleep, though. The procedure took about 1.5 hours, while my bunnies & I waited in the waiting area, and then they brought us back to the room.
She slept until about 4:30pm, which was really nice because she can't get up, can't move from side to side. She needs to stay on her back until they complete the study tomorrow because they don't want the catheters to move.
They took out her GJ button and used that opening to place her catheter. It goes into her stomach and small bowel. Then they also have a catheter placed lower to monitor her large intestines.

It's been a tough day for her, though. I think tomorrow will be even worse.
It'll be nice to have these tests done, though, especially if they give us some answers and help us understand what is going on. I've had some other families connecting with me, sharing their stories, and it sounds like sometimes all these tests still don't diagnose the problem. I really hope that's not what happens here.
Also, just because I was pretty upset the other day (10 days ago now?) when we were in the emergency department, I wanted to follow up and say I feel like they have been very attentive to our concerns since then, and before then, too. It was just those few weeks that stressed us pretty bad, where they wanted to see if we could manage at home, only to discover we weren't able to, which is helpful now in their figuring out the seriousness of stuff. We've had conflicts with previous hospitals, when we felt like something was wrong, and they didn't, and being able to compare to those experiences just makes this hospital stand out as all the more awesome in how they've handled it all. After the first few days, GI has been great, too. (Hoping that keeps up.)
Goodnight, everyone! (If anyone is even awake, ha.) We are grateful to all of you for your love & support. It really means a lot. ❤️
